Welcome to the future: AI Gamechangers
Exclusive weekly insights from developers on the frontline of AI in games.
Meet the people behind the technology
You’re reading a new weekly email newsletter about AI. We know, we know: another one. What makes this one different?
It’s from the creators of Pocket Gamer, PG Connects, PC Games Insider and Beyond Games, which means we’ve spent years writing about the business of making games and have a ton of top industry contacts. We’ve been following the conversation about AI as it relates specifically to games for years now. We’ve participated in London’s Gen AI Con and hosted AI-focused tracks at our own events in London, San Francisco, Dubai and around the world.
So, what’s in store? The newsletter will feature interviews with industry figures, curated content from existing sources, and links to relevant news and tools. Each week, we’re going to send you:
① A fresh Q&A with a senior figure making great use of AI in games. We’ll ask them about practical uses of machine learning and artificial intelligence, as well as ethics, predictions for the future and more. This isn’t just Silicon Valley investor fluff or naive “wow look what ChatGPT can do!” content – you’ll discover some talking points about the state of the industry and gain valuable insight into meaningful applications that will affect the game-making pipeline.
② A handful of genuinely useful links to follow up: videos of panel discussions from events, news from around the web, and a few sites or tools you might want to check out.
For good or ill, AI is the hottest buzz in tech, especially in the world of games, and we’re diving right in with a newsletter that’s all about the intersection of AI and video game creation. Our unique industry access and content from events make us ideally positioned to explore this fascinating niche. We’ll keep things fun, platform-agnostic, and packed with insights you won’t find anywhere else.
The first full edition will land in your inbox next week, featuring an interview with Guy Gadney, co-founder and CEO of Charisma.ai (pictured above, left). He’ll tell us about the importance of ethics in AI development, the need to balance AI guardrails with creative storytelling, and the potential for AI to revolutionise interactive narratives.
“It’s very important for the creative industries not to sit back and grumble but to actively engage with the technologies so that an informed opinion can be had. There’s still an enormous amount of fear about AI, born out of a lack of understanding, a lack of education, about how these tools work.”
